And, as we all know. . .

"This minimal amount of information seems to me to be the perfect Pentagon solution: they haven't outright denied anything; they've provided a handful of minor examples of abuse as a minimal concession; and the strategy now is to accuse the press of exaggeration and the detainees of lying."

A great analysis. . .

. . .of a Social Security "privatization scheme" being proposed in the same state that gives us both Jay Rockefeller and Robert Byrd as Senators, by Don Surber. Perhaps they've seen the consequences of sticking to an old style system beyond its solvency.

I think just about the strongest case the administration can make is that if they don't do something now, you can count on Congress to extract the necessary revenue from retirement income, sooner or later.

While shaving the. . .

Don Surber. . .

. . .has been added to the Ldotter blogroll -- belatedly. I beg forgiveness due to the fact that, while I was aware that Mr. Surber was an Ldotter, I had no idea he had a blog. I've read many of Don's columns on Lucianne.com, and count myself among his fans. If I'd known he was blogging, I would have added him a long time ago.

Thanks for the link, and apologies for my ignorance, Don. I've fallen slightly out of the loop lately. I hope this goes some way toward fixing my glaring oversight.

Cheers and welcome aboard!
